Mind, Art, Experience: 10 Years of Chess & Culture in Saint Louis celebrates the first ten years of exhibitions at the World Chess Hall of Fame (WCHOF). On September 8, 2011, the WCHOF opened its doors in the Central West End neighborhood of Saint Louis, conveniently located across the street from the Saint Louis Chess Club. By honoring the 1,500 years of history of chess and the contemporary players who continue to grow and change the sport, the Saint Louis institution looks at chess and how it presents itself in every facet of culture, including music, fashion, history, pop culture, and art. In its first 10 years, the WCHOF has hosted 50 exhibitions, each exploring these many aspects of the game, culminating in our largest exhibition yet: Mind, Art, Experience. Like the exhibit itself, this book highlights elements from all of our previous exhibitions into one incredible catalog celebrating the amazing world of chess and art.
