Purling London is a company specializing in luxury chess sets and other parlor-style games. For Painted Pieces, they donated chess sets to twenty artists of varying styles and told them to make them their own. Depicted are various pawns from the finished sets that made up the collection. Every pawn started identical before each artist made them unique.
