"Chess Masterworks" features beautifully filmed mini-documentaries on the art and history of 25 chess sets from the spectacular collection of Dr. George Dean (Founder and President Emeritus of Chess Collectors International) and his wife, Vivian - including the Russian masterpiece made by Faberge, said to be the world’s most valuable set. Also included are sets by Dadaist artist Man Ray; the Salvador Dali “Fingers” set; an amber set believed to have been fashioned in the workshop of Catherine the Great; a Murano glass set; a Meissen porcelain set; a complete set from the 16th Century, and many more. For decades, the Deans have traveled the globe acquiring many of the most historically important, valuable, and sought after chess sets in existence.
