Join us for a talk with Nicholas Gates & Nika Marble, two featured artists from the current exhibition, The Imagery of Chess: Saint Louis Artists. Each artist will discuss their process & contributions to the exhibit.

Nicholas Gates is a self-taught artist and choreographer. He celebrates elements of hip hop, particularly graffiti and b-boying, in his dance, sculpture, and fashion design. Gates has created commissioned sculptures for Jay-Z, Ice-T, Nelly, Kanye West, and others. He truly believes art is the tool to free anyone.

Nika Marble is an artist and composer. She is a classically trained pianist and violinist who performs with her collaborator Louis Wall in the avant-jazz Marble//Wall Duo. Identity is a recurrent theme in her visual artwork, where she utilizes a diverse and unsettling sum of forms to render a whole self.

Free admission. Hors d’oeuvres and refreshments are provided.
